Diedrich Von Soosten began his career at Price Waterhouse in 1962 and was admitted to the partnership of that firm in 1974. While at Price Waterhouse, he provided auditing and acquisition support services to a number of multinational and smaller domestic corporations. Since leaving Price Waterhouse, he has pursued a career in international venture capital, leveraged buyouts and the reorganization and restructuring of underperforming businesses. He has acted both as a principal and intermediary in the purchase, sale and financing of middle market manufacturing, service and distribution businesses and has served as COO and CFO of several of these companies.
He was a founding partner of Coloney von Soosten + Associates, Inc. in 1990 and led its reformation into Aurora Management Partners in 2001. He has operated his own firm, Diedrich Von Soosten & Co., Inc., since leaving Aurora in 2004. Over the past twenty years he has completed a large number of successful consulting engagements, both in and out of court, for institutional lenders, debtor companies and the shareholders of both privately and publicly owned businesses. These assignments have included operational and financial restructurings, sales of business segments, going concern liquidations, and debt recovery advisory services, all in the context of the financial distress of debtor companies. He has provided assistance to many financial institutions, including Nordic American Bank, Bank of America, Wells Fargo Business Credit, Wells Fargo Foothill, Finova, and Lighthouse Financial Corporation. The majority of these engagements involved performing assessments of the viability of specific debtors, determining the resources required to effect a turnaround or restructuring, and advising regarding the options available to maximize the institution’s loan recovery.
He has served as the restructuring advisor to debtor companies in chapter 11 proceedings in bankruptcy courts in the Middle District of Florida, the Southern District of Georgia, the Middle District of North Carolina, the Northern District of New York and the District of Colorado. He has extensive experience in agriculture, and has provided services to a broad expanse of manufacturing businesses.
Diedrich is a graduate of Lehigh University and a Certified Turnaround Professional. He is a member of the Turnaround Management Association and the American Bankruptcy Institute. In the early 1990s, he worked closely with a number of other leading turnaround professionals in the country in developing the criteria and the process for providing certification of turnaround specialists. This work led to the creation of the Association of Certified Turnaround Professionals, of which he was a founding director and officer.
He has also been a director of Birman Managed Care, Inc. a former NASDAQ-listed company, where he was chairman of the audit committee and a member of its compensation committee.
He has written several articles on various aspects of the turnaround process and the early warning signs of distress in businesses. He received the 2003 Turnaround of the Year Award from the Atlanta Chapter of the Turnaround Management Association for his work in restructuring Bland Farms, LLC, the largest grower and shipper of Vidalia onions in Georgia.
He lives and works in Palm Coast, Florida.
